The Bunka was originally developed in Japan as an all-purpose knife for preparing vegetables, meat, and fish. With an overall length of 27 cm, it sits somewhere between a petty and an agile chef’s knife, but in daily use, it functions best as a larger petty—precise, nimble, and versatile.
The handle features a layered mix of cream white, black, and a pearl-like white. The blade is made from O2 carbon tool steel, which is not stainless and will develop a rich patina over time, gradually reflecting its use and the hand of its owner.
This knife is both a high-performance kitchen tool and a functional artwork. Made from non-stainless tool steel, its darkened blade will gradually develop a unique patina that reflects its use. The layered resin handle is shaped for comfort, and the handcrafted stand—made of clay and resin—holds the knife upright with a hidden magnet.
